- Beautiful fabrics, weaves, and shapes. All of them have a story to tell. -
At MONAKA, we believe that one of our important missions is not only to convey the jewelry we create, but also to convey the "Japanese handicraftsmanship" and "power of materials" that lie behind it.
Through the products we offer, we hope to connect Japan's wonderful techniques, culture, and beautiful handicrafts to the future. With this in mind, we are now offering a range of products clad in special fabrics that have been carefully designed and produced in Japan.
I created an original jewelry box , and I would like to explain about it.
"The reason for making Jubako jewelry boxes"
Wrapping the "ease of use" that has been cultivated for 10 years in beautiful fabric
This time, there are three types of boxes: two types of tiered jewelry boxes and one type for carrying around.
The prototype for this box is an original, tiered box-like box that was created within MONAKA about 10 years ago after much trial and error, with the aim of "being able to introduce jewelry smoothly without making customers wait."
I have always wanted to make a jewelry box as a product,
Everyone's jewelry is different, and the size of the storage space will naturally be different as well.
I was worried about what criteria I should use to make it, as I couldn't decide on the size or design.
At that time, a customer suddenly said to me in the store,
The words, "There may not be any other box that is as easy to use as this," were a real eye-opener for me.
It had become so integrated into my daily life that I had used it like air, and I had overlooked its value. So, this time, I redesigned it based on the criteria of " adding aesthetic value to professional functionality . "
"The harmony between the meaning of the box and the meaning of jewelry"
Jewelry is a physical representation of the wearer's happiness and efforts in life.

Since ancient times, tiered boxes have been considered to be auspicious, symbolizing "multiple blessings" and "multiple happiness."
At MONAKA, we believe that jewelry is a physical representation of the happy moments in the wearer's life, and can also symbolize the path of the wearer's efforts throughout their life.
In that sense, storing jewelry in a box with this design feels very harmonious in meaning.
Just seeing the beautiful overlapping pieces fills the soul, and the sparkle you see every time you open the lid beautifully colors your daily life and the start of a new day with a bright and positive feeling.
"Beautiful fasteners finished with Sanada cords and kasane motifs"
The string used to tie the boxes together is Sanadahimo, a cord made by Sumiya, which is also used for MONAKA shoppers.
It is a sturdy type of obi, so it is slightly thick.
To ensure that the box can be placed stably without tipping over due to its thickness, we designed a groove on the bottom of the lowest box to allow the string to pass through, allowing it to be placed flat and beautifully.
In addition, two of MONAKA's popular "kasane" rings are made out of brass and used as original hardware for the clasp.
While retaining the world of jewelry, the box's appearance is enhanced with a touch of elegance.
