Ginza Project ③ Bridal Box Renewal

Ginza Opening Project ③

For the opening of the Ginza store, we planned a renewal of MONAKA's bridal cases. We aimed to create bridal cases that convey the beauty of Japanese craftsmanship and culture.

The ring case itself uses Mino ware, a traditional craft from Gifu Prefecture. It has a matte finish with a subdued sheen, and the MONAKA logo is subtly engraved on the lid. After the ring is placed inside, it is carefully wrapped in "Ginmashi," a soft Japanese paper, gently protecting the precious ring.

The outer box that holds the case was commissioned from a craftsman in Kyoto who also makes boxes for offerings to the Imperial Family. The dimensions were meticulously adjusted many times to perfectly fit the Mino ware case, and each box was carefully tailored by hand.

Finally, the box is tied with a Sanada cord from "Sumiya," a company with over 450 years of history. Sanada cord is said to be "one of the world's thinnest woven fabrics" and has been used in everyday tools since ancient times. This traditional woven fabric, which has been passed down through people's lives for a long time and was incorporated into the tea ceremony by Sen no Rikyu, is also used for the paulownia wood boxes that hold tea ceremony utensils. This cord was specially woven in a color unique to MONAKA.

Not just the ring, but everything that encases it, embodies Japanese aesthetics and the handiwork of artisans.

We deliver it as a special box that accompanies your precious moments.
