MITSUKI Box - Full Moon Box -
The "MONAKA" jewelry box was created about 10 years ago through trial and error to facilitate smooth presentation in stores.
Inspired by a customer's comment that "there is no other box with such an easy-to-use shape," we created an "original jubako jewelry box" that retains the functional beauty of the jewelry box while incorporating the beauty of Japanese craftsmanship.
For carrying the upper and lower cushions, It gently holds your jewelry in place, yet is easy to put in and take out, preventing it from moving or getting damaged. It's designed to be stress-free and safe to use when traveling or on business trips.
◾️ Amate - A unique expression where washi paper and velvet meet -
"Amate" features soft velvet pile peeking out in dots.
The design is made by layering Japanese paper, which is made from traditional Japanese materials such as kozo, mitsumata, and gampi.
By gluing the washi paper to the velvet while leaving the fibers intact, we were able to create a texture that feels almost "deep, like leather." The contrast between the smooth surface and the soft texture of the velvet creates an elegant look that is perfect for wrapping jewels.
◾️ Spots - A fabric that gives off a natural rhythm, like hand-drawn fabric -
The reverse side of the velvet is flocked (a technique that uses static electricity to attach short fibers) to create a "two-faced" fabric that can be used beautifully on both sides. Since it's attached to a box this time, only one side can be seen, but the scattered dots have an organic, warm feel, as if each dot was carefully painted with a brush. The pattern and appearance, reminiscent of a work of art, add depth to the appearance of the jewelry box.
◾️ Decorative thread - Expressive jacquard where the thread itself becomes the main focus -
Jacquard fabric woven using a fluffy decorative thread called mohair thread (chenille thread) with threads left out in some areas to create a floating weave.
The natural warmth of cotton and wool, combined with the three-dimensional texture of the weave, creates a truly appealing material that exudes simplicity yet high craftsmanship. Slightly thick and soft, it feels comfortable to the touch.
