MONAKA ginza | Uniforms That Embody Connections
A special project celebrating the opening of MONAKA Ginza.
Our designer, Hogami, shares her thoughts on the themes embedded in Ginza, our new stage.
This time, the theme is "uniforms."
Please enjoy the story behind each uniform.
The uniforms created for MONAKA Ginza hold a special connection and personal feelings for me.
I asked a friend I met in Antwerp, Belgium, to design them.
When I was involved in accessory design and production in Antwerp, she was a student at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp.
Time has passed since we were both chasing our dreams, and before we knew it, we were both in our 40s.
Even now, after various experiences, the fact that we can continue to be good friends is an irreplaceable treasure to me.
This time, she carefully observed the space and worldview of MONAKA Ginza, and proceeded with the production through repeated dialogues, from fabric selection to intricate details. She deeply understood our thoughts and requests, and has shaped each of them.
Antwerp is a special place that profoundly influenced my values regarding jewelry and my approach to craftsmanship, providing a significant opportunity for growth.
The uniforms designed by a friend I met there symbolize the new beginning of MONAKA Ginza, and I feel they will lead us to the next stage.

These uniforms embody gratitude and respect for the staff who welcome our customers, and the spirit of hospitality for all who visit MONAKA.
So that the staff, who are the face of MONAKA and welcome customers daily, can wear them with pride, and provide a comfortable experience for our visitors.
From our encounter in Antwerp, nearly 20 years of friendship,
the uniforms worn by our staff, to encounters with our customers,
it is a special uniform carefully tailored with many thoughts and connections.
