Vol.4 Art pieces born from the earth
Ahead of the "Boulder Opal Order Event" , which will be held exclusively on our online shop from 12:00 on Saturday, July 20th, we will focus on boulder opals and introduce their charm!
Among MONAKA stones, boulder opals actually have many secret fans.
In stark contrast to the clear colors of quartz and aquamarine, this natural stone has a chic appearance and a unique look that exudes a sense of oriental splendor , making it an enchanting stone that overwhelms all who see it.
It's not a single color, but a complex one. Once you see that unique, maniacal glow, you'll probably find it hard to forget.
We will be sharing the fascinating aspects of boulder opals with you along with the new pieces we have available at this event.

Simply put, boulder opal is an opal that has been processed while still attached to the host rock. Boulder means "lump of rock," and it is formed when opal flows into cracks in brown iron ore. However, since it is difficult to extract the opal alone, the name boulder opal comes from the fact that it is polished together with the host rock.

The opal is cut carefully so as not to remove too much of the intervening opal, so the opal is thin and is polished with the iron ore host rock remaining on the back or surface.
I think one of the characteristics of boulder opal is that it can be enjoyed as jewelry while still retaining the gemstones along with what is called the host rock.
Therefore, among all the types of opal, boulder opal is the one that best allows you to experience the ``interesting mineral quality.''
