Vol.4 地球が産んだアートピース

Vol.4 Art pieces born from the earth

Ahead of the "Boulder Opal Order Event" , which will be held exclusively on our online shop from 12:00 on Saturday, July 20th, we will focus on boulder opals and introduce their charm!
Among MONAKA stones, boulder opals actually have many secret fans.
In stark contrast to the clear colors of quartz and aquamarine, this natural stone has a chic appearance and a unique look that exudes a sense of oriental splendor , making it an enchanting stone that overwhelms all who see it.
It's not a single color, but a complex one. Once you see that unique, maniacal glow, you'll probably find it hard to forget.

We will be sharing the fascinating aspects of boulder opals with you along with the new pieces we have available at this event.

Simply put, boulder opal is an opal that has been processed while still attached to the host rock. Boulder means "lump of rock," and it is formed when opal flows into cracks in brown iron ore. However, since it is difficult to extract the opal alone, the name boulder opal comes from the fact that it is polished together with the host rock.

The opal is cut carefully so as not to remove too much of the intervening opal, so the opal is thin and is polished with the iron ore host rock remaining on the back or surface.
I think one of the characteristics of boulder opal is that it can be enjoyed as jewelry while still retaining the gemstones along with what is called the host rock.
Therefore, among all the types of opal, boulder opal is the one that best allows you to experience the ``interesting mineral quality.''
Now that you have a basic understanding of the basic elements of boulder opal, we would like to introduce four carefully selected pieces from the eight we have prepared this time.

This time We have a wide variety of unique products, from those that allow you to enjoy the colorful play of colors in the crystal layers to those that allow you to enjoy the contrast with the brown color of the host rock.

The one on the left has a very rare play of colors that mixes purple, pink, and blue through the crystal layers, a coloration that is rarely seen in boulder opals.
The tiny inclusions are layered together, creating a small diorama landscape inside the loose stone.
On the right is a vivid and cool blue play of colors. A mysterious piece that fits in like a river flowing into it.
Both boulder opals are accented with milky color schemes, giving them the feel of watercolor paintings.

On the other hand, this piece has a large area of bedrock and at first glance appears calm.
However, boulder opal doesn't end there. Its dazzling blue play of color shines through the cracks in the host rock.

I can't get enough of the powerful neon glow, which I would describe as dazzling and sparkling.

It truly gives you a sense of grandeur, as if a part of the earth has been captured in its cage, and is the unique charm of boulder opal, which tightly encapsulates all the beauty of opal.

Why not enjoy wearing these art pieces, which could be described as the mysteries of nature, as jewelry?
This is one of my favorite natural stones, and its dazzling shine, which can withstand even the melting rays of the sun and seems to emit its own light, makes me want to wear it all the time in the summer.
Boulder opals look great with a white T-shirt and also go well with a casual denim style, making them a great choice of summer jewelry for everyone to enjoy.

The color of the host rock on the back shines through the crystal layer and appears on the surface as a chic blue-gray or light ink color body tone, allowing you to enjoy a landscape that resembles a geological layer.

Although most of the loose stones are of subdued, muted tones, the play of colors hidden deep within and the milky white veil create a beautiful balance. This boulder opal has a mysterious and charming appearance, reminiscent of a sumi-e painting.

Please enjoy the impressive expressions.

In addition, new rings from the Flat series will be available, created specifically for this event.
Each boulder opal is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, with an elegant glow like a fantastic rainbow or aurora, which can be said to be a mystery of nature.
Boulder opal contains the host rock. The name suggests a sense of dignity, but you will be captivated by the unique, vivid and majestic colors.
