Diamond Fair - Vol.1 - / MONAKA isetan

MONAKA Isetan Shinjuku store will be introducing the history of diamonds for a month

Diamonds have fascinated people throughout the ages.
At this fair, we will be tracing diamond history and introducing diamond items throughout the month.

Diamonds have a long history, and it is said that humans first encountered them in India around 800 BC.
At the time, diamonds were too hard and there was no technology to polish them, so it was only about 600 years ago that diamonds began to be polished and used; for the 2,200 years prior to that, diamonds were left uncut.
Diamonds were then introduced from India to Europe, where polishing techniques were developed. In the 16th century, before electric lighting was invented, rose cut diamonds, which shone beautifully under the candles at evening parties, were favored by royalty and aristocrats in medieval Europe.
The old cut, which is said to be the prototype of today's brilliant cut, was developed in the second half of the 17th century, and the brilliant cut, which pursued greater brilliance, appeared at the end of the 19th century with the invention of electric lighting.

Nowadays, thanks to the development of polishing machines as well as the skills of polishing craftsmen, there are a wide variety of cuts with numerous polished surfaces and shapes.

Starting with rough diamonds that have fascinated mankind since 800 BC, the designers have carefully selected old cut diamonds, which are said to be the prototype of the brilliant cut that appeared in the 17th century, and fancy cut diamonds created using modern technology, and fashioned them into sophisticated designs that are characteristic of MONAKA. The first product we will introduce in the Diamond Fair is
Diamond rough is said to have been discovered by mankind around 800 BC.
We have new green diamonds and makeable diamonds available, featuring a rugged yet adorable form and the luster that is characteristic of diamonds. Green diamonds are said to be rare among colored diamonds because they are produced in extremely harsh environments deep underground and the environments in which they can be produced are extremely limited. To bring out the deep green, brown diamonds are placed on the sides, creating a calm and deep look.
The Makeable Diamonds are designed to take advantage of the delicate nature of the diamonds themselves. They shine like fresh water droplets lit by light.

We have two rough diamond rings available, each with its own unique appeal. Don't miss this opportunity to take a look at these miraculous crystals created by nature.
